Best natural deodorant for women | Maria's review

"In the past year, I have tried MANY deodorants. I heard that the antiperspirant deodorants are bad for you, so I went on a quest to find a healthy deodorant that works. I don't gravitate towards earthy or made from "natural" materials, but I do know a good product. I look for how well it works, the design of the product and then connect the environmentally conscious part. After all, if it doesn't work, you can make it out of the most environmentally friendly products, and it just won't matter. You've got to make it work.

I started my journey by trying out the Native deodorants. They are great products. I do think they are doing the right thing and when it comes to smell variety, they've got it. However, ultimately I went away from them because they still didn't "feel" quite right. They didn't glide the way that I wanted them to and they were a bit too sticky. That my friend, is a deal breaker for me!

I went on to many other brands that I don't remember including ones that were made out of charcoal. Many promised great results, but in the end, they were either sticky or just simply did not cover a running workout! I've got to not smell. Please, don't make me smell!

Department stores have been my go to for antiperspirant deodorant. So when I couldn't find anything satisfactory in deodorant only, I ran back to the department stores. There I found "Secret Aluminum Free Deodorant". This seemed like it would be it. I even bought one for my 10 year old that's starting to have some B.O…yikes! This is a good product. No complaints from me really. The smell if fine and it does the job. And it's good for you!

One day, I was suckered into the Lume deodorant commercial. Have you seen it? It's AMAZING! It promised the moon and the sun. Of course I had to try it. I thought that maybe I could help support the little guys. After all, Secret is a HUGE company, let's try the more environmentally friendly companies. So I bought one. I was super excited and felt like this might be it. I finally might have found the deodorant of my dreams…wrong. I got it and it wasn't my dream product. First it felt too creamy and sticky. Did I mention I hate sticky deodorant? Anyway, I tried to use it for a few days but I wasn't in love with the smell either. Too hippy for me…I suppose I could try another scent…Still, I gave up and went to my Secret stick!

Then, one day my favorite perfume site announced that they were shipping a deodorant. This was it, love at first sight. Wow, I bought two of their versions and indeed, I am in love. They make me smell so good and I don't have to put much perfume on now. I LOVE IT! This is the Phlur brand. They got something amazing and I love it. The product, the package and what the company stands for all fit nicely into a wonderful promises that delivers. It's my favorite deodorant so far! However, if you aren't much for strong smells, stay away from these products. They are potent.

Now comes Freshstick, the zinc deodorant from Bedrock. Honestly, I wasn't sure what to expect. I already have my dream deodorant, so why try something else? Well, I tried it because I love the other products the company provides and deep down I want to do good for the environment. I want to use products that are biodegradable and this product offered a great solution for my stink, in a package made of paper. Too good to be true, right? So I had to try it.

I received Freshstick and immediately loved the package. So simple, and yet so pure. I felt really connected with the owner Rachel. The craftsmanship and care that she has put in this product really shines. So then, I wanted to see if the product performed. When I opened the stick, I loved the surprise of the stick being minty green. Yah, none of the boring white ones that so many deodorants look like. Add some color to the stick! We love it. I loved it! Then, I used it on my underarms and I was SHOCKED how smooth it felt. I could not stop gliding it on my armpits. It felt so good. And no sticky feeling! After a full workout, I still didn't smell. That's a winner in my book.

In the end, I now think I have two favorites. Freshstick from Bedrock for my everyday needs, and the Phlur deodorant for those times when I want to smell a little extra!"
